The first image of Liam Neeson in Martin Scorsese's Silence has surfaced online.
The film is adapted from the novel by Shûsaku Endô and is set in 17th Century Japan. It follows the efforts of two Jesuit priests (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who go looking for their mentor (Neeson) and encounter violent persecution along the way.
The cast had to lose weight for their roles, in order to reflect the turmoil that their characters have to go trough and as you can see from the pic below, Neeson looks a bit gaunt.
There's no release date as of yet for the film but expect Silence to have a role to play in next year's awards season.
