Remember how the Rock aka Dwayne Johnson, is currently a Disney star in Moana, as well as ruling reboots Jumanji and Baywatch, and thrilling audiences in the Fast & Furious franchise? Well with all those current and upcoming roles, it’s easy to forget that Dwayne is also due to star in the DC superhero movie universe as the villainous Black Adam.
Johnson and his co-star Henry Cavill (who played Superman in Man of Steel as well as this year’s Batman v Superman) both took to social media (Instagram and Facebook, respectively) to remind fans of their exciting new venture.
They wrote: ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Superman and Black Adam Dwayne The Rock Johnson. Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We're excited for what the future brings.. #DangerousGentleman #DCWorldsWillCollide’
Johnson was cast as Black Adam back in 2014, reportedly for a live-action Shazam movie, but since then, there hasn’t been much news. The posts raise the possibility that Johnson’s Black Adam may show up in a future Justice League or DC Cinematic Universe film
Moreover, Dwayne Johnson has actually teased a Black Adam vs Superman confrontation more than a couple of times, plus Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson happen to share the same manager. Man of Steel 2 is currently in development.
