Fans of the Percy Jackson book collection are calling for the series to get another shot at an adaptation for either film or TV.
Two films have thus far been made based on the series – the rather wordy 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' in 2010 and 'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters' in 2013 – starring Logan Lerman and 'Baywatch' star Alexandra Daddario. Both films made a little back than twice their budget at the box office (which at a budget of $90-95 million, isn’t exactly a producer’s dream come true) and neither were particularly popular with critics.
Now that Walt Disney and 20th Century Fox are coming ever closer to a merger, Disney is due to acquire the rights to Percy Jackson & The Olympians. However it is unknown whether they plan to continue the series or reboot it.
With these developments in mind, many fans have taken to Twitter to ask for the reboot they think Percy Jackson deserves. Some have suggested an animated series while many think a Netflix series would be the perfect fit for the books.

After the Disney-Fox merger, Disney will own PJO's rights again (since PJO, HOO and all of Riordan's books are published by Disney Hyperion). And they're also building their own streaming service like Netflix. They might make a reboot of the movies or a multi-season show.
