It’s about time!
In what has turned out to be the surprise big hit of the season, DC/Warner Brothers’ Wonder Woman has not only been heaped with critical praise but it has also grossed nearly $800 million in box office receipts worldwide.
It’s all down to two Wonder Women really – Gal Gadot, who took on the titular role, and Patty Jenkins, who directed the stellar movie.
Given its success, a sequel was inevitable, but the finalising of its director has remained ambiguous with people being flabbergasted as to why Jenkins hasn’t been given the gig already.
Well now, according to Deadline, she is “in final negotiations on [a] historic deal to helm Wonder Woman 2.”
The publication writes that Jenkins deservedly “expects to be paid substantially more and the same as a male director would receive after such a box office coup. That desire was seconds away from becoming a reality on Thursday evening as a deal was being finalized which would elevate her as the highest-paid female director in town.”
No pay day has been revealed but a studio source said they were “confident the deal will be reached soon.”
