Jenkins will reunite with 'Wonder Woman' star Gal Gadot, who was already signed on to return, on the film which is slated for release on December 13th, 2019.
Variety broke the news today after previously reporting that Jenkins was working on a script for a sequel but now is confirmed to direct, co-write and produce the sequel to DC's first real crossover success.
Having only signed on for the first 'Wonder Woman' film (replacing Michelle McLaren who left the project over creative differences), Jenkins found herself in an excellent position when it came to negotiating her follow-on deal, and as the film continued to gross at box offices around the world, even more so.
However, the deal-making was said to be "lengthy and tough" in the three months since the film opened, but according to one source who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, it will make Jenkins the highest-paid female filmmaker in history, with her directing and writing fees "in the high seven figures" and a "considerable" backend deal.
Here's hoping the sequel lives up to all that.
