Patrick Dempsey has apparently joined the cast of Transformers 3. The Grey's Anatomy star revealed himself that he would be joining the production, saying he'd be playing a "darker character."
Michael Bay is already in preproduction on the sequel, which is scheduled to shoot in the next few months for a tentpole release during the summer of 2011. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox will of course be returning, and this time joined by the likes of Frances McDormand and John Malkovich.
Bay has promised to concentrate a little bit more on the story, and not just have a load of robots knocking seven shades of shite out of each for two and a half hours - like the second film. Good for him.
