We previously reported how Michael Bay is making an action-thriller based on the pandemic. Well it looks like he's not the only one hoping to make bank on these surreal current times.
Anne Hathaway is said to be in current talks to star in what is being described as a "pandemic-themed heist" movie.
Deadline broke the news. 'Lockdown' is the inspired titled of the movie.
Doug Liman will direct the project. He's renowned for his works with Tom Cruise such as 'Edge of Tomorrow' (aka 'Live Die Repeat') and 'American Made'.
Liman's credits also include 'The Bourne Identity', 'Swingers', and 'Jumper'.
He is also said to be working on a movie that will actually be set in space, again with Cruise. So this guy's ambitions literally know no bounds.
His new project 'Lockdown' is said to have a London setting.
Steven Knight wrote the script, and P.J. van Sandwijk is producing with Alison Winter.
It will have a modest budget of under $10 million and is a heist movie/romantic comedy hybrid set against the backdrop of the pandemic lockdown.
Of course Hathaway, who will next star in 'The Witches', is no stranger to the heist genre. Her most recent big screen roles include 'The Hustle' and 'Ocean's 8'.
'Lockdown' is set to begin filming by the end of September.
