Audiences and critics alike simply adore Paddington's latest adventure.
The sequel, which follows a little bear from Peru who moves to England and lives with the Brown family, has made $150 million off a $50 million budget and currently holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with over 100 reviews.
It is the second family film in history and the fourth film overall to accomplish this feat. The first film to hold the title was 1999’s Toy Story 2, another sequel, while the only other films to have a 100% rating with over 100 reviews are 2008’s Man on Wire, based on 157 reviews, and 2016’s Things to Come, based on 130 reviews.
Paddington 2 currently has an impressive 151 positive reviews on the review aggregation website.
The film is now the best reviewed movie of the year and for anyone a wee bit confused given Paddington 2 was in Irish cinemas as early as November last year, the movie has only just come out in the USA (its release date there being 6th January).
The film was originally going to be distributed by TWC stateside but after the sexual abuse allegations against its founder Harvey Weinstein, the North American distribution rights were acquired by Warner Brothers mid-November.
We couldn’t be more delighted for the heart-warming feature (you can check out our own 4 star review for the movie here) and hope – unlike the unfortunate case for Lady Bird – it maintains its worthy record.
