With the end of awards season on the horizon with the Oscars now just two weeks away, the odds are shortening on almost all of the categories.
Joaquin Phoenix and Renee Zellwegger are likely to pick up the gongs in their respective categories, with Sam Mendes all but a lock for Best Director. Taking this into account, the odds on all of these have shortened dramatically according to Oddschecker since the PGA Awards, the SAG Awards, and the DGA Awards last night.
'1917' is the clear favourite to win Best Picture, with odds for it now at 4/6, with 'Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood' and 'Parasite' both at 6/1 odds, with 'Joker' trailing at 14/1 while 'The Irishman' is back at 66/1. 'Marriage Story', meanwhile, is at 100/1 to win.
For Best Actor and Best Actress, Joaquin Phoenix and Renee Zellwegger are favoured by the oddsmakers at 1/12 and 1/7 respectively. Saoirse Ronan, meanwhile, is 33/1 for her role in 'Little Women', while Scarlett Johansson is 12/1 on 'Marriage Story'.
Best Director, meanwhile, has Sam Mendes locked in at 8/15 odds, while Bong Joon Ho has 4/1 odds for 'Parasite' with Tarantino on 16/1 odds for 'Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood'. However, 'Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood' is the favourite to win Best Original Screenplay with odds at 11/18 to win with 'Parasite' a close second at 15/8 odds. For Best Adapted Screenplay, 'Little Women' has the same odds as 'Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood' with 11/18.
'1917' and Sam Mendes winning both Oscars is also a pretty safe bet, with odds on that happening now at 3/5 with just two weeks to go. However, if you're looking for a bit of an odd bet, there's 10/1 odds on the winner of Best Actor dropping the Oscar on stage.
