The Shape Of Water was by far the big winner during last night's Oscars, picking up a total of 4 wins out of 13 nominations with Guillermo del Toro winning Best Director and the film clinching Best Picture.
Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan went home empty-handed as Frances McDormand picked up her second Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It was a night of firsts for many, as Gary Oldman, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell all went home with their first Oscars in their respective categories, Oldman in particular, who many felt was long overdue.
Jordan Peele's Get Out picked up Best Original Screenplay, whilst James Ivory's adaptation of Call Me By Your Name picked up the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Further down into the technicals, cinematographer Roger Deakins finally won his long-deserved Oscar for his work on Blade Runner 2049, whilst Netflix's sports doping documentary Icarus won Best Documentary.
