It's been confirmed that director Jonathan Demme has passed away at the age of 73.
Demme, best known for directing Silence Of The Lambs and Philadelphia, died due to complications resulting from cancer. Aside from Silence of the Lambs, Demme also directed Philadelphia, starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Demme also directed the Talking Heads concert film, Stop Making Sense.
His most recent film was Justin Timberlake & The Tennessee Kids, a concert film he directed with Timberlake and his musical group. Demme is survived by second wife Joanne Howard and their three children: Ramona, Brooklyn and Jos.
