'Oppenheimer' finally gets a proper trailer and Christopher Nolan fans eagerly anticipating his next film can breathe a sigh of relief as we get a very Christopher Nolan trailer.
And by that we mean, do we have any more of an idea what the film is about from the new trailer than we did before? Absolutely not. Are we excited? Tentatively. Some of us are still haunted by the sound mix on 'Tenet' after all.
What we do know is that Cillian Murphy stars as J. Robert Oppenheimer, often credited as "the father of the atomic bomb" and subject of the source matter for the film, 'American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer' by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin (it won a Pulitzer, amongst other prizes). The film will focus on his role in the Manhattan Project, which resulted in the first nuclear weapons and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
The absolutely stacked cast also includes *deep breath* Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey, Jr., Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine and more.
Will we ever get a trailer that tells us more about 'Oppenheimer'? Probably not, but when you remember the thrill of seeing 'The Prestige' and 'Momento' on almost zero plot information, it's enough to give Nolan a pass. For now.
'Oppenheimer' is set for release in Irish cinemas on July 21, 2023.
