Per a report in the Daily Beast yesterday, the NYPD is now achingly close to arresting Harvey Weinstein for felony sexual assault - and are only waiting on the go-ahead from Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance.

During a press conference that same day, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said that the investigation is still underway and added that "it's going very, very well", but stopped short of saying that they were ready to arrest Weinstein. If arrested and charged with first degree rape, Weinstein could face anywhere between 5 to 25 years in jail. First degree rape is defined under New York law as sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion or is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless.

According to previous reports, NYPD has a total of five separate investigations pending against Weinstein, with the Daily Beast also alleging that the embattled film producer is staying out of negotiations for the sale of TWC in New York as he fears arrest if he arrives in the city. The NYPD investigation isn't the only one pending against Weinstein, either.

Here in Ireland, Gardai have been made aware of allegations made by Laura Madden, who worked as Weinstein's assistant during the production of Into The West. According to Madden's allegations during the Channel 4 documentary, Working With Weinstein, she was first approached by him in a hotel room in Dublin.

The LAPD, meanwhile, has 28 open investigations concerning sexual misconduct and assault by Weinstein - all of which he's denied.
