Nicolas Cage has been polarising movie-goers as of late, and it's pretty easy to see why; the talented leading man has been starring in a hell of a lot of garbage. But Cage has Kick Ass in the can, a film that has been garnering stunning buzz since it debuted some footage at Comic Con (I asked Cage about it here), as well as the intriguing Werner Herzog remake of Bad Lieutenant. Now, he's continued to choose quirky, as it has been announced he'll headline the film, Drive Angry. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be co-written and directed by Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine), while the story centres on "a man driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway." Sounds like a film we've seen many times before, and Lussier is hardly a top drawer director; but still, given the right mood, this could be a lot of fun. I actually enjoyed My Bloody Valentine for what it was, and Lussier knows a thing or two about pacing, having edited for the legendary Wes Craven for years.
