Get set to remain perched on the very edge of your cinema seat, fingers in mouth as the new trailer for Tom Hanks' Captain Phillips has just landed.
One watch of this trailer and you know you're in for one hell of a nerve wracker. Returning yet again to another harrowing experience at sea, the first being Cast Away, here Hanks stars as Captain Phillips, a man governing a crew who find themselves at the mercy of a bunch of ruthless, Somalian pirates. What's more? It's based on a true story.
Back in 2009, the US MV Maersk Alabama was seized by these little shitbags, marking it the first pirate hijacking of an American cargo ship in 200 years. The real Captain Phillips then penned a book called A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea, chronicling his experience.
The camera work here looks pretty damn realistic and, coming from the same director of the Bourne movies (Paul Greengrass), we'd hazard a guess that once the thrill ride kicks off, it doesn't let up 'til the very last moment. Poor Tom! If only he could take Wilson on this journey too, he might not be so terrified.
