The new trailer for The Bling Ring starring a sexed up Emma Watson has just made its way online. It looks set to impress, with a stylistic mix of Project X and hints of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
For those of you who haven't read about it, or seen the jaw-dropping shoot she did for GQ, here Watson goes bad, real bad. Like many a young LA girl, she wants in with the Hollywood circles. Along with her celeb-obsessed cronies, they embark on a modern day Bonnie and Clyde type of lifestyle, crashing parties, robbing gaffs and generally living it up just like Paris, Lindsay and other famous-for-no-good-reason celebrities of that ilk.
With Sofia Coppola at the helm as both writer and director, we'd hazard a guess that this will be a lot more than your average teen/college movie. It'll be quirky, a little dark and offer some critical commentary on our very genuine fixation with fame and our digital media habits (in other words, it's very easy to stalk celebrities online nowadays). I also quite like the idea of mixing reality with fiction, as the group break into Paris Hilton's house and have run ins with LiLo. It's also said to be inspired by real events.
Much like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens' Spring Breakers (from director Harmonie Korine), after The Bling Ring, Hermoine will be a distant memory.
