If you're wondering why 'The New Mutants' hasn't been reviewed by us yet, there's a simple enough reason for that.
Simply put, there's been no press screening for it - so we have to go watch it in the cinema like normal people. That's not exactly uncommon, but it's normally a bad sign.
Indeed, we've got a pretty good idea of what's in store for us. The few US outlets who did review the movie - many outlets chose not to review it as Disney wouldn't provide screener links for the movie, and the overwhelming advice from health experts in the US is to stay away from cinemas - described 'The New Mutants' as "boring", "wimpy", "lacklustre and confusing", and "forgettable."
So far, 'The New Mutants' has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 32% and an audience rating of 53%. To make matters even worse, one of the co-creators of the original comics - Bob McLeod - took to Facebook on the movie's opening day to further put the nail in the coffin on the movie.
McLeod admits that he was initially excited about the prospect of seeing his characters on screen for the first time, but soon realised that director Josh Boone had effectively white-washed a number of characters, not to mention the fact that they looked utterly different from the characters he created. More specifically, McLeod also noted that they even misspelt his name on the title credits.
"They couldn't even be bothered to check the spelling of my name sometime in the last three years. And that can't be fixed. That will be on the movie forever," McLeod stated, finishing his post by saying that he thinks he's "done with this movie."
Our review of 'The New Mutants' goes live at some stage tomorrow. Expect... well, don't expect anything good.
