The Jumanji sequel, a follow-up to the 1995 Robin Williams-starrer, is directed by Jake Kasdan and stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
Yesterday, Dwayne Johnson spoke about the upcoming flick at Sony's CinemaCon panel and there was even some footage shown from the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The footage begins with four high schoolers in detention. Their teacher orders them to clean out the basement of the school, and they find an old video game console, which features the game Jumanji. You pick a character, and as the teens learn you are that person in the game ... which transports you to a jungle.
“One rather nerdy boy is surprised (and rather pleased) to see he's got the muscles of The Rock. The popular girl in school is horrified to learn she's got the body of Jack Black.”
This indicates that Jack Black will be playing a teenage girl while Johnson plays a nerd. Oh the hilarity that will ensue. Moreover, Jumanji has been updated to a video game format - is this a good or a bad thing?
Johnson also revealed the title of the Sony project will be 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.' The movie opens on December 22nd.
