It really is something that comic-books have hit such a critical point that a character as obscure as Morbius, The Living Vampire now has his own tentpole blockbuster with big-name stars attached to it.
If we're doing obscure comic-book characters, how come no Booster Gold movie yet? Anyway, 'Morbius' sees Jared Leto play the titular character, a brilliant scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease that is slowly killing him. Running out of options, he decides to purposefully inflict himself with vampirism and, sure enough, becomes super buff with super powers and basically stops aging.
'The Crown' alum and former 'Doctor Who' star Matt Smith is in there as well as Loxias, Morbius' pal who suffers the same rare blood disease who - you guessed it - eventually becomes super buff with super powers and fights Morbius. Speaking of 'The Crown', Jared Harris is in there as gravelly exposition man and mentor, while Michael Keaton pops up for a scene at the end to remind you that this is part of Sony's Marvel universe-thingy.
There's also a very obvious moment where Morbius walks past a poster - in slow-motion, by the way - of a poster of Spider-Man with the graffiti 'Murderer' on the side of it, just to hammer the point that this is set in the same world.
Also, shout-out to the trailer editor for keeping that epic version of classical music pieces going. 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' had Debussy's 'Clair de Lune' and 'Morbius' has Beethoven's 'Fur Elise'.
Take a look.
