Since movie-makers are often too lazy to come up with their own new and original ideas, they often rob from elsewhere; fairytales, best-selling books, comic books, real life events. One of the weirdest things they've taken from though are board games. Despite Battleship going down like a... er... a sunken battleship in a game of Battleship, this trend is on the rise.
Board game giant Hasbro now have plans to adapt Monopoly, Action Man and Hungry Hungry Hippos into movies. Now Monopoly and Action Man we get; Monopoly has that whole jail thing going on and the money aspect could surely translate well into some dark Nolanised franchise while the possibilities for an action adventure flick starring the one and only Action Man movie are boundless. But Hungry Hungry Hippos with a penchant for marbles? Yeah, not sure we'd be queuing up for that one.
As per Total Film, Hasbro has unveiled a deal with indie production company Emmett/Furla Films to adapt three more of their most successful games for the big screen.
Of all the board games you played growing up, what do you think would translate best to a movie? Snakes and Ladders? Taboo? Tell us!
