Miles Teller has been chosen from a shortlist of three actors to play Goose's son in the upcoming sequel to the '80s classic, Top Gun.
Variety confirmed that Teller, who previously starred in 'Whiplash' and most recently 'Only The Brave', has landed the role and will be starring alongside Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer - both of whom are returning as Maverick and Iceman, respectively.
Plot details haven't been officially confirmed, but ThatHashtagShow.com is claiming that Teller's character will be called Riot and, according to the casting brief, "distrusts Maverick and dislikes what he stands for, although they have a lot of similarities."
The previous choices in the role included Glen Powell and Nicholas Hoult, with Powell in particular being a favourite to land the role. It's not yet known precisely when production is due to kick off, but given how there's a release date of July 12th, 2019, it looks like they need to hit the afterburners to get it made.
See what we did there? No? OK, whatever.
