There's a feature-length version of the 1980s-set cult short film 'Kung Fury' on the way - and Michael Fassbender is playing the titular role of the 'greatest damn cop of all time.'
The original film was funded by Kickstarter in December 2013/January 2014 and starred unknown writer/director David Sandberg in the title role, drawing in characters like 'Kung Fuhrer' (aka Adolf Hitler) and the Norse god Thor as Kung Fury battled the Nazis. However, it went on to become a hugely successful cult hit, clocking up over 40 million views.
Now, Fassbender is taking on the role in the action-comedy, while David Hasselhoff - who appeared in the original and also sang the theme song, 'True Survivor' - will also feature.
The feature's storyline will again see Kung Fury take on Kung Fuhrer and the Nazis in 1985 Miami. Original director Sandberg will direct and also star, while it's being produced by David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt - the team behind KatzSmith Productions, who had huge success with IT last year.
Dunno about you, but we're looking forward to this - not to mention seeing Fassbender displaying his comedy chops.
