Bourne 5: The Bournening Part 2 could well be happening, with both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass looking set to feature on the new project.
Another Bourne movie is in the works, and according to reports, it seems that Matt Damon will be back on board, along with Paul Greengrass. Both Greengrass and Damon had seemingly decided that they would not be doing any more work on the Bourne franchise a few years back, which is why Renner came on board as a new character in the last movie, but something has changed their minds.
It seems that Damon had stated he wouldn't consider going back without Greengrass, and the director himself had decided he could add no more to the story after Bourne's character regained his memory, but Universal have announced plans for a new movie that will be released in 2016 with both of the two back on board. Presumably the return of Greengrass behind the camera was what tempted Damon, but there doesn't seem to be any detail on what could have convinced the director to reverse his decision.
Let's not all get our hopes up immediately and start running around getting Matt Damon tattoos (unless that's something you've been planning for a while, then fire ahead), as we remember hearing something vaguely similar to this about 18 months ago too. It seems the next Bourne/Renner picture that was reportedly in the works won't be getting trashed either, as Universal want to open up the franchise and make both movies, but with no comment from any of the parties involved here yet, we won't hold our breath.
