Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are to team up once again on a Boston set flick based on notorious mobster and informant James 'Whitey' Bulger, Damon told GQ Magazine.
I published a story only yesterday on Affleck's possible involvement with a new adaptation of the Stephen King novel, The Stand. But that seems to be more the studio hoping he would direct, than actually interest from the director of ace productions, The Town and Gone Baby Gone; now he looks likely to be moving back to his home town of Boston for another crime flick. Damon told the men's magazine, "There are a couple of competing (Bulger) movies, and I don't think it's been announced yet that we're doing it. But the sooner it's announced the better, just because everyone else will back off, hopefully. I'm really excited about it."
Affleck previously said at the Irish premiere of The Town that he'd be moving away from crime stories set in Boston; and is currently shooting Middle Eastern set satirical flick, Argo. You might recall another drama that was also loosely based on Bulger called The Departed, that also starred Damon. For these two guys to go over similar territory again there must be something special in this.
