Marvel's next movie entry in Phase 4 has us very excited for some martial arts action.
In our second official look at Marvel's newest superhero, it all gets rather heavy and serious - and we're digging it. The first teaser released a few months ago showed off the movie's comedic aspects (reminding us of 'Ant-Man'), but the new 'Shang-Chi' trailer doesn't waste any time in dealing out the drama and the high-stakes thrills we're expecting.
The trailer opens with a young version of actor Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tony Leung’s Wenwu discussing the rings which give incredible power. The end of the trailer then sees the father and son face off against each-other in what we expect to be quite the showdown. Wenwu is the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization.
We also manage to catch a glimpse of Florian Muneanu as the sharp-armed villain Razor Fist, Shang-Chi face-to-face with a water dragon, and a blinnk and you'll miss it scene involving - is it? - Abomination. Marvel fans have been speculating that the Hulk’s archenemy will be a feature in the movie. If it is indeed hi, actor Tim Roth is likely to be reprising his role from 2008’s 'The Incredible Hulk'. The actor has already been confirmed for Disney+'s 'She-Hulk' TV series.
With three potential heavy-hitting enemies and fights for Shang-Chi to handle, the movie is certainly delivering on the action side of things (and Awkwafina is in there for a sprinkling of comedy).
Also included in the cast is Meng’er Zhang as Chang-Chi’s sister, Xialing, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, and an unknown actor in the role of the Marvel character Death Dealer.
'Black Widow' with Scarlett Johansson will be the next MCU entry into cinemas. The movie will hit theatres on Friday, July 9.
Here's the new trailer.
'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' hits theatres on September 3, 2021.
