Still one of the finest directors of his generation, Oscar winning legend Martin Scorsese is apparently in talks to direct an adaptation of the Jo Nesbo penned Norwegian mystery novel The Snowman reports Variety (via Darkhorizons).
The film centres on detective Harry Hole and the search for a missing girl. When her scarf is found mysteriously wrapped around a snowman, Hole suspects the work of a serial killer. This story is actually the seventh in the book series but the one that Scorsese is most interested in. He wouldn’t be the first A-list director to tackle a Scandinavian story; David Fincher is currently putting the finishing touches to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Chris Nolan helmed the thriller remake, Insomnia, before Batman Begins.
Scorsese just released a documentary on George Harrison, and has the kid’s movie Hugo due for release in the coming months. A much mooted reunion with Robert De Niro on mobster flick, I Hear You Paint Houses, seems a long way off.
