In true Marky Mark style, Wahlberg stirred the pot yesterday with the announcement that he aims to collaborate with king of the tweens Justin Bieber, but then decided to merge an after-school special heart to heart with Bieber alongside the movie update...through the medium of The Sun of course.
Speaking on The Sun's interview webchat, Wahlberg advised the teen singer abotu the perils of fame and money, stating 'if you're being a teen in the spotlight you're going to be criticised for it. This career can be short-lived — you might as well be the best you can while you're doing it.' While most other A-listers would leave it at that, keeping it P.C. but ultimately dull, Wahlberg went that step further and directing his message directly at Bieber he stated Justin, are you listening? Don’t be so naughty, yeah. Be a nice boy, pull your trousers up, make your mum proud and stop smoking weed, you little bastard.' The Boston twang must surely have added some comic effect we simply can't reproduce, so we'll leave that to your imagination.
The Ted actor went on to say 'He's a teenager living in a different day and age. I was in prison before I got a record out and I don't think he’s been to prison.' It's not a competition Wahlberg. The bad boy award still goes to you. Talking about the opportunity to work together, he added 'Justin and I were talking about doing a movie, which could still happen[...] We have a great script that could be a vehicle for him to make his debut in movies, then maybe we could do something for the soundtrack.' If anyone can steer Bieber onto the right track, it's Wahlberg. Aside from his recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which really is a must see for sheer 'when not to drink an entire carton of wine backstage' tips, he really has transformed himself. Bieber on screen we cannot see but let us be proved wrong. While Walhberg is on the case, he may even take the teen jean shopping and teach him about crotch-to-floor proximity, or even just belts.
