Alex Pettyfer, the hot young thing who managed to look pretty even when he was supposed to be deformed in Beastly, is set to star as a gay action hero.
Best known for his saucy role as apprentice stripper Adam in Magic Mike, he is teaming back up with Lee Daniels who directed him in The Butler which, by the way, is getting rave reviews and generating some serious Oscar buzz.
In an exclusive interview with Out Magazine, Daniels revealed that he wants to make an 'interracial love affair action movie' kind of like Mr. and Mrs. Smith but with a gay twist. The director is known for pushing the boundaries (remember that jellyfish scene in The Paperboy?) and with a movie as big as The Butler behind him now, he can pretty much do what he wants.
Daniels is clearly more than happy with his casting choice. Hitting the nail right on the head he said, "[Alex is] so hot, isn't he? So hot. And so aware of his hotness in a way that's so…I love him to death."
He is still looking for an African-American actor to play the other half of the pair and since we totally, totally agree with his first casting choice we can't wait to find out who comes out on top. This is one movie we will certainly be keeping our eyes on.
