If you were remotely skeptical about the trailer for the Dundee reboot starring Danny McBride, you had every reason to be - it's actually a Superbowl ad, according to a report by the Brisbane Times.

The two trailers, one which saw Danny McBride meet Chris Hemsworth in the outback and claim he was Crocodile Dundee's illegitimate son, were circulated widely online - however the Australian newspaper has debunked the whole thing as a marketing campaign for Australian tourism.

The report cites Steve Rogers, the listed director on IMDb, as a successful commercial director and points to Chris Hemsworth's status as an ambassador for Tourism Australia. Just to add even more weight to that, director Steve Rogers is listed as a director for Sydney-based advertising agency Revolver. Not only that, how exactly does a film like this get made and NOBODY knew about it? Sure, Beyonce-ing films is a thing nowadays, but for a Crocodile Dundee reboot? No way.

While there's no official logo for Tourism Australia on any of the trailers - there is a brief logo for Screen Australia - there is just no way that this isn't an ad. On top of all that, Paul Hogan - the original Crocodile Dundee - did an ad for Tourism Australia back in the '80s.

So, yeah, all makes sense when you think about it. Here's the Brisbane Times' report on the matter.
