The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that American cable network Lifetime are producing a biopic based on the life of the pop star.
Natasha Bassett will star in the flick which has the working title of Britney. Bassett’s credits include Hail, Caesar!, Lifetime's June Carter Cash TV movie Ring of Fire, Manson’s Lost Girls, and miniseries The Kennedys.
The two-hour movie will follow the ‘tumultuous true story’ of the artist's rise, fall, and comeback. The film will reportedly document her relationship and break-up with JT, as well as her marriages to Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline.
Britney Spears is doing great right now, releasing her new album Glory this weekend and appearing on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, which airs tonight. She is also set to perform at the MTV VMAs this weekend.
It all seems very exciting, but reportedly the singer is distancing herself from the Britney movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, her rep has said that she will not be contributing to the project ‘in any way, shape or form… nor does it have her blessing.’
I guess you could say that she fears it could be Toxic.
