Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly very close to signing on for the main villain role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards follow up, Django Unchained.
According to Deadline, DiCaprio is closer to taking that role that the initially mooted Will Smith is at taking the controversial titular character "a slave who is liberated and taught the tricks of the trade by a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter (to be played by the very cool Christoph Waltz)." Actors speaking to Tarantino about the part other than Smith are Idris Elba, Chris Tucker, and Jamie Foxx.
Deadline speculate that it may be too much of a risky role for the extremely image conscious Smith. DiCaprio is know for taking risks and this sounds like it could be a belter.
