Stephen Merchant is perhaps best known to audiences for co-creating The Office with Ricky Gervais.
However, Merchant's branched into directing in more recent years and his next project definitely looks interesting, to say the least. It's now confirmed that Merchant will write and direct Fighting With My Family, a drama based on the 2012 Channel 4 documentary of the same name which told the story of WWE Women's Champion Paige and her unusual family - all of whom are wrestlers.
Newcomer Florence Pugh will play Paige, whilst Lena Headey is expected to star as Saraya, Paige's mother and former wrestler. Hot Fuzz's Nick Frost will also star in an unspecified role, although it's likely he'll be playing Ricky Knight, Paige's father. Meanwhile, War & Peace's Jack Lowden will play Paige's brother, Zak Zodiac.
As well as all this, Dwayne Johnson will also have a lead role in the film, however it's not yet known if he's playing himself or someone else from the WWE. The film has the full backing of the WWE, as well, who are on board as producers alongside Film4 and Johnson's own production company, Seven Bucks.
No release date has been confirmed, however Johnson announced the casting of Headey and Frost on his Twitter account last night.
