Kristen Stewart is set to play Princess Diana in a new biopic from Pablo Larraín. The Chilean filmmaker previously helmed 'Jackie', starring Natalie Portman as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
Like her co-star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart has long put her 'Twilight' days behind her.
She has starred in a whole mix of movies lately including 'Charlie's Angels', 'Seberg' and 'Underwater'.
Her roles in 'Clouds of Sils Maria', 'Café Society', 'Certain Women' and 'Personal Shopper' earned high praise.
Aside from 'Jackie', Larraín is also known for the Oscar-nominated 'No'. He was also a producer on 'A Fantastic Woman', which won the first Chilean Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
His next movie centres on the Princess Diana's decision to leave Prince Charles while spending Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.
She had married into the British royals as Lady Diana Spencer. The Princess of Wales died in 1997 in a car crash in Paris.
Production is expected to begin in early 2021. The movie will be shopped at the upcoming Cannes film festival virtual market.
