Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann will reteam for a Judd Apatow written and directed spin-off of his brilliant comedy, Knocked Up.

Variety broke the news, while Drew McWeeny at Hitfix.com managed to get a quote from Apatow himself about the production. When McWeeny asked if it was a spin-off in the vein of Get Him To The Greek, or simply a sequel he got, "It's neither. It is just a story from Pete and Debbie's current life. People really responded to their characters and problems. I felt like there was a lot of ground I could explore with them, so we'll be shooting in July and will come out the following June." He finally added, "There are some fun details yet to reveal but I will let them come out slowly. It's more fun that way."

This is genuinely great news. Rudd and Mann had real chemistry in Knocked Up, and seeing that relationship expanded into a feature is an exciting prospect. Rudd is coming off of a couple of failures in Dinner For Schmucks and How Do You Know, but is still an immensely likeable actor with brilliant comedic timing.
