Having starred in some films that have featured her in nude or sex scenes, Keira Knightley has added a no-nudity clause to her contract since having children.
The actress discussed her stance during an episode of the Chanel Connects podcast.
The pod saw her speak to filmmaker Lulu Wang ('The Farewell') and producer/journalist Diane Solway.
Knightley spoke about how she is no longer willing to do nude or sex scenes specifically with male directors.
"It's partly vanity and there's partly also the male gaze," she said. "I feel very uncomfortable now trying to portray the male gaze."
She said she is "not interested" in doing those "horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody's grunting."
She added: "I'm too vain and the body has had two children now and I’d just rather not stand in front of a group of men naked."
Knightley said she understands the value of these types of scenes. She also explained that she isn't totally opposed to nude scenes.
She said she'd feel different if they were for a story about that "journey of motherhood and body acceptance".
The actress added she would only want to work on such scenes with a female filmmaker.
"I don't have an absolute ban," Keira Knightley said. "But I kind of do with men."
