That's almost as surprising as hearing that Patrick Swayze won't be appearing in the remake either... Next thing you know, Lori Petty off Tank Girl won't be making an appearance?!!
When asked if he'll be popping the head in to the "new" Point Break film, Reeves scoffed (we're not entirely sure if he "scoffed" or not, we'd be surprised if he didn't): "Absolutely not... It’s not my place... It sounds very exciting - but is it a good thing? I don't know." In other words, "no, it's the worst thing ever."
According to Total Film, "Producer Alan Kosov had previously described the project as 'not a literal remake', before going on to elaborate on the link between the two films: 'It will have] elements of the original and it's not just surfing, it's other kinds of extreme sports, but surfing is very, very prominent in the story'."
That's if it even gets made; there's been rumours concerning Point Break being rehashed since May 2008...
Really, when you think about it, in the event that a remake should be necessary (they're rarely necessary), original cast members should be as far away as humanly possible. Unless it's a prequel where time travel is possible, and you're Leonard Nimoy.
