With 'Avengers: Endgame' drawing a line underneath two of its main stars - Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans - the search is on for the next crop to lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe into its fourth phase.
So far, it looks as though 'The Eternals' is drawing up the acting talent and star power. Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani and 'Game of Thrones' alum Richard Madden are all signed on, but now another star is reportedly close to joining their ranks.
The latest rumour is that Keanu Reeves is in discussion with Marvel to join 'The Eternals' in an unspecified role. The source is, admittedly, sketchy at best and none of the trade bibles have picked up on the story as of yet. That being said, Reeves is no stranger to comic-book adaptations. 'Constantine', for example, was based on a DC Comics title.
The story - again, take this with a pinch of salt - goes that Keanu Reeves was originally lined up for 'Captain Marvel' and the role played by Jude Law. Reeves, however, backed out when 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum' was given the green light. While a fourth 'John Wick' is on the horizon, 'The Eternals' won't begin production until later this year.
Reeves, for the most part, seems to enjoy these kinds of movies and given how popular both 'John Wick' and he is generally, it makes sense that Marvel are trying to rope him in. The question is whether or not it actually comes together and happens or not.
No release date has been set for 'The Eternals'.
