Katie Holmes is reportedly so desperate to shed her good girl image she's willing to join the cast of the sure to be smut-filled film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey.
The role of Elena Lincoln, Christian Grey's former flame now friend, has yet to be filled and apparently Ms Holmes thinks it could be 'the role of a lifetime'. An insider told the National Enquirer, "It will shock a lot of people, but she thinks Hollywood will sit up and take notice. She knows she has to reinvent herself."
Even though Katie has been working steadily and is never too far from the spotlight, she hasn't done anything of note in a while. Joining one of the most talked-about projects in recent years could rocket-launch her career - or it could make a complete dog's dinner out of it.
I hope she knows that if the movie is anything like the books it will be a huge global hit but as far as quality goes, well, if she's ever hoped for awards and critical acclaim this sure won't be the way to go about it. She is apparently willing to go blonde for the role so perhaps she's simply more concerned with being considered a sexpot rather than a serious actor (not that blondes can't be serious actors but - you know what I mean.)
If the role becomes hers she will join confirmed cast members Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey himself and Dakota Johnson as leading lady Anastasia 'Ana' Steele.
