Kate Hudson is to stretch her acting chops playing a single woman from Manhattan, in the film Something Borrowed, according to Variety. The romantic drama is based on the novel of the same name, and has already added John Krasinski and (the downright adorable) Gennifer Goodwin.

Hudson will play an attorney called Darcy, who is a Goodwin's best mate, but also a bit of a selfish sort who only really thinks of herself. Goodwin, the "consummate good girl" gets lamped on her 30th birthday and goes and rides Darcy's boyfriend - that'll teach her mate for being selfish. Somewhat surprisingly, Hudson and Krasinski will be the supporting players and turn up in the planned follow-up, Something Blue, as the leads.

Jesus, original? Kate Hudson? Luke Greenfield, who directed the underrated The Girl Next Door is on helming duties.
