If you thought to yourself that 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' was good, but it really needs to be in black and white to be that bit better, then friend, you're in luck.
HBO announced yesterday that a black-and-white version of the extended/reworked version of 'Justice League' is on the way. Titled 'Justice Is Gray', the version will be available on HBO Max pretty soon.
Here's your first look at... well, the same thing you saw this weekend, just in black and white.
It's unclear whether or not there'll be even more footage in this new version, but seeing as the current colourful version of the movie is four hours and two minutes long, it seems unlikely. Then again, the fact that all of this even happened seemed unlikely. Who even knows anymore?
Black-and-white versions of movies are becoming increasingly common. For example, James Mangold's 'Logan' and 'Mad Max: Fury Road' were both released in black-and-white versions. In the case of 'Mad Max: Fury Road', director George Miller talked about how he regularly cuts his movies in black-and-white and found it to be a much more interesting version of his movie.
In this instance, Zack Snyder was carrying around a black-and-white copy on his laptop for years and was editing (hah!) with that version. Indeed, all of the poster material for 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' has been in black and white, so putting this out kind of tracks.
'Zack Snyder's Justice League' is available on Now TV and Sky Cinema here in Ireland currently. No word yet on when 'Justice Is Gray' will arrive as of yet.
