We've got to admit - we've got very mixed feelings on the Jumanji remake.
Based on the popular children's book by Chris Van Allsburg and released in 1985, Jumanji became an international hit when it was first released in 1995 for Robin Williams and director Joe Johnston. Since then, there's been talk of a remake that skews more closely to the source material than the 1995 film.
It's been reported that Jake Kasdan has now signed on to direct the remake with a release date for December 26th, 2016 scheduled in. There's been no word yet on who'll be taking on Williams' role, but there'll likely be news as it moves closer to a release date. Kasdan previously directed Bad Teacher and was one of the showrunners for Zooey Deschanel's TV venture, New Girl.
So, thoughts? Look, it might just be us, but Jumanji is intrinsically linked to Robin Williams and trying to separate the two isn't a good idea. The first one still stands up and the CGI used was extremely advanced, so much so that it's aged quite well. What about you?
