Star Wars: The Last Jedi – undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated films still to come in 2017 – is scheduled to hit Irish screens on December 15th.
While plot details and other information has been kept secret, no doubt some hints as for what to expect in the film will be trickling in over the coming months.
One piece of information that has made it through the cracks was offered up by none other than director Rian Johnson himself. Johnson is currently in Tokyo, Japan promoting the The Last Jedi, and according to Star Wars News Net, the director revealed at a recent fan event that his good friend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, has a voice acting role in the upcoming Star Wars movie.
Gordon-Levitt has appeared in all three of Johnson’s films - Looper, Brick, and The Brothers Bloom (the latter in an uncredited role).
The cameo will be akin to that of Simon Pegg or Daniel Craig’s contributions to The Force Awakens and while how big the role is remains a mystery, Johnson reportedly stated that the actor will be lending his voice to an alien.
Johnson also briefly talked about the rumours that he will direct Star Wars: Episode IX and said: “It was never in the plan for me directing Episode 9. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I was entirely focused on Episode 8. So now I’m not really thinking about that right now. Sit down and see who are the next filmmaker [sic].”
