Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to bring a live-action version of the iconic TV show Fraggle Rock to the big screen.
The plan to get a Fraggle Rock movie up and running has been in the works for a while (since 2011, when it was set up at New Regency) but it looks like things have taken a big leap forward with the news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been attached to the project.
Speaking about the project, he said that "Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved."
Levitt has a number of other projects on the go, including him playing Edward Snowden in Snowden, as well as another comedy project with Seth Rogen and his TV show HitRecord (he's really quite busy) so there's no word yet on when the movie will eventually hit the big screen, but we're already pretty excited about it.
Hopefully they keep the same theme tune as the old show, we don't know what we'd do if they changed that.
