Director of 50/50, Jonathan Levine, is set to re-team his winning formula, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen, for a currently untitled Xmas themed comedy.
The film will centre around three best mates who uphold their tradition of reuniting on Christmas Eve in New York City. Levitt and Rogen will play two of the those characters with the third role yet to be cast.
It is revealed, by The Hollywood Reporter, that Sony faught off competition from Universal and Paramount to make the picture. Sony, who produced This Is The End alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures, will look forward to a similar collabortion with the aforementioned as well as Good Universe, the producer and co-financier behind 50/50, coming in as co.producer. Janathan Levine, himself, is said to have wrote the screenplay for a movie that could be streamlined to shoot as soon as this summer.
A story of re-teaming, then. That's nothing new for the Rogen crew, in fairness. If the Golden Globe nominated 50/50 is anything to go by, then we're in for a treat. I'm not sure if this new Xmas movie will tug at our heart strings as much(I faught back the tears for 50/50 something serious), but you can guarantee that it'll be a decent ab workout from the laughing.
