James Cameron is reportedly considering directing Angelina Jolie in a mammoth, big budgeted 3D version of Cleopatra.
According to Deadline.com, Sony, who own the rights to the book, Cleopatra: A Life, by Stacy Schiff, are pursing Cameron to helm what they hope could be one of the most eye-popping productions in recent memory. They are also keen to have Angelina Jolie as a mainstay in their studio, in the same way that Adam Sandler and Will Smith have set up stall there in recent years. Cleopatra does seem like the perfect role for the actress, especially with the possibility of working with a man famed for his strong female protagonists.
LA Confidential writer Bran Helgeland has penned a script that is apparently so good, Sony are beside themselves with excitement about the possibilities of what Cameron could do with it. Watch this space.
