Fresh off the back of his hugely successful box office hit A Quiet Place, John Krasinski is eyeing up his next directorial project and it looks like it will be a sci-fi flick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krasinski will be teaming up with his A Quiet Place team - producers Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller [Platinum Dunes] - for an adaptation of a short story by Cecil Castellucci titled We Have Always Lived on Mars.
The movie is set to be called Life on Mars and Paramount are in negotiations to pick up the project. There is currently no writer on board and at the moment it's not looking like Krasinski will have a role but he will also serve as a producer alongside Allyson Seeger, an executive at his Sunday Night Productions company.
The story follows a woman who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. Sources say that Krasinski found the story and brought it to his Platinum Dunes cohorts.
It will be interesting to see if Krasinski, who came to prominence in The US Office, will be able to recreate the success of A Quiet Place but here's hoping he has the confidence now to pull something just as good if not better out of the bag in the coming year or two.
In the meantime, you can next see Krasinski taking the lead in the upcoming Amazon series Jack Ryan, based on the Tom Clancy character.
