As we know from interviewing the guy, John Carney's doesn't hold back during interviews.
It's refreshing, to be totally honest. So many interviews are carefully structured and rehearsed to within an inch and, very often, you almost always get the most diplomatic answer imaginable when it comes to previous experiences. In a recent interview, the Dublin-born director was quizzed about his time working with Keira Knightley for Begin Again.
As we mentioned, he didn't hold back and discussed how Knightley "has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it’s very hard to get any real work done, and so I was very ready to come back to Ireland and make films that nobody cared about who was in it or any of that crap."
Carney went on, saying that he'll "never make a film with supermodels again." Oof.
To be fair, he did pull back a bit later on when he said that he didn't "want to rubbish Keira, but you know it’s hard being a film actor and it requires a certain level of honesty and self-analysis that I don’t think she’s ready for yet and I certainly don’t think she was ready for on that film."
Keira Knightley, the floor is yours.
