Australian actor on the up, Joel Edgerton, has bagged the role initially offered to Ben Affleck in the big budgeted remake of The Great Gatsby.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan have been set to star in Baz Lurhmann's adaptation for some time, and Edgerton will join them playing Tom Buchanan. Another Aussie, Isla Fisher is also set as Myrtle Wilson, the woman with whom Tom is having an affair with.
The production will film in 3D and shoot in Australia from August. Edgerton will next be seen in Mixed Martial Arts drama Warriors opposite Tom Hardy.
