Although JJ Abrams might have his hands full with writing and directing Episode IX, he's not afraid to throw more on his plate - and adapting Your Name as a live-action film is one of them.
Variety reports that Paramount and Bad Robot have won the rights to begin work on a live-action version of the critically acclaimed Japanese animated film, released last year with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%. The film follows a young boy and girl who find they are switching bodies with one another - but also something much, much stranger. Without giving too much away, it's pretty mind-warping and probably the reason why Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer has been tapped to adapt it.
There's no word yet on how the film will cast, whether it'll be adapted to a US audience or if it'll still be made in Japan. Either way, the fact that Abrams is involved as producer and Eric Heisserer writing the screenplay means there's a good chance that this will be something special.
