Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed up to play the lead in a rags-to-riches biopic about the inventor of the Miracle Mop, Joy Mangano.
According to Deadline, David O. Russell is in preliminary talks to direct the film about the intriguing story of the self made inventor. And, of course, he wants our Jen to play her. Can you blame him. The director of Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle obviously hasn't been spared from the wrath of the charm machine that is Jennifer Lawrence, as he adopts the 'just put her in everything' logic. For good reason, too, mind.
Frustrated with ordinary mops, Mangano, a single mother of 3 from Long Island made her fortune by inventing The Miracle Mop, a robust mop head that could be easily rung out without getting your hands wet. A revolutionary design that earned her millions, making her a QVC superstar. She has since gone on to sell her mop company, Ingenious Designs, LLC, in a multimillion-dollar deal with the Hiome Shopping Network. To this day she is one of HSN's most lucrative presenters, tipping hourly sales over the 1 million mark. That's fair going.
The film will tell the story of an empowered woman who works hard to make it to the top. Enter Ms Lawrence.
David O. Russell is squaring up to the currently untitled Fox 2000 project, but it could be a while yet before we see this leaning towards fruition with Lawrence and Russell both tied into other projects for the foreseeable future. One to keep your gawkers on, still.
